Mainstream Fiction books don’t fit neatly into a Commercial Fiction sub-genre such as Mystery, Horror, Romance, etc. One of the reasons is that Mainstream Fiction is less formulaic or predictable than Commercial Fiction when it comes to the plot, themes, or characters.
