Epic Fiction Genre – What’s the best definition for the epic fiction genre? Books in the epic genre must contain three things: they must be a trilogy or longer; they must have a time span that encompasses years or more; and they must have a large back-story or universe setting in which the story takes place. Epic Genre books are often crossed with the fantasy or science fiction (Sci Fi) genres. The Lord of the Rings is a good example of an epic genre series.
